H Garden is truly a hidden gem in the Art District in San Jose del Cabo. Created by Luis and his son Chef Luis of H Bistro, it is truly hidden as the door is under a green awning of Ignacio Comonfort up the block from Jose Maria Morelos at the corner of El Encanto Inn & Suites. The owners converted a parking lot into an amazing outdoor restaurant that is only open for half the year (high season) and half the week. There is a new multi-course menu each week from Wednesday to Friday and often a Roast Prime Rib of Beef dinner on Saturdays. The menus are creative and served family style. Reservations are required so that Chef Luis can plan the meals carefully.

We have been there a few times. Most recently Beth went with our neighbors Kevin and Tracy for a menu that included Corn Chowder, Shrimp Cocktail, BLT, Seared Sea Bass Fillet, Pan-Roasted Chicken Breast Au Jus and Warm Apple Pie. Knowing the menu, you can bring your favorite wine as there is no corkage fee.

The Corn Chowder was chunky with broken Yukon potatoes, sweet corn kernels and peppers, crispy bread croutons, parsley and a little olive oil. It was delicious. The Shrimp Cocktail, unlike many restaurants that include small shrimp in cocktail sauce, this had large shrimp, some tiny pickles and olives, lettuce, and cocktail and garlic and mayo sauces, with French Fries. The BLT was not a sandwich but actually a description of the salad that was offered. The Seared Sea Bass came with sautéed vegetables – zucchini, carrots – and creamed spinach. It was finished with parsley, garlic confit and lemon zest butter. The final offering the main course was the Pan-Roasted Chicken Breast, which was served over a mushroom risotto. The warm apple pie was served with vanilla ice cream and raspberry sauce.

H Garden provides and absolutely incredible experience with lots of flavorful, high quality food, excellent service and a very pleasant outside garden atmosphere. This is a meal that you should not miss during the season.
