Located in the boutique hotel, La Posada del Pescador, Los Kurricanes is a unique hidden gem in Cabo San Lucas. Priced for locals and the guests of the boutique hotel, Los Kurricanes offers both a breakfast menu and a lunch menu. The lunch and dinner menu is heavily oriented toward seafood. This is not surprising as it is adjacent Pescaderia Cabo Mar Gourmet, the fish market also owned by Juan and Lupita, the owners of the boutique hotel and restaurant. The restaurant has been open for four years.

The menu is very interesting. You can select items a la carte or their are a number of packages or family style meals for two or four people. The unique nature of the restaurant is that you can visit the Pescaderia and select your fresh fish to have with your meal. Also, the kitchen of the restaurant has a wide range of sides – salad, potato salad, pasta, mashed potatoes, grilled vegetables, rice, coleslaw and more – that you can choose to customize your meal. Beth and I both selected the fresh sea bass for our lunch with different sides. Beth chose salad and coleslaw and I selected pasta with pesto and mashed potatoes.

The restaurant itself is small and very comfortable with a view of a large aquarium. The service was fast and helpful. Lupita, the wife and partner of the owner, Juan was delightful. She also pointed out that everything was available to go and that you could call and order the food to pick up, either prepared or ready to cook at home. A sign in the lobby also offers to cook your catch if you bring it to the restaurant. Los Kurricanes is currently only open until 5:00 pm but Lupita has been interviewing chefs to be able to open for dinner in the evening as well. There is also a food stand out on the street for cocktails and some of the items from the menu.
