NEW CONSTRUCTION IN THE HOTEL ZONE IN SAN JOSE DEL CABO

John Anderson, Editor

Wherever you go in Los Cabos these days, new construction is visible. On the corridor, near the entrance to the Westin Regina, there are two new beach side projects – Bella Vista and Dunna. Across from the Koral Center at the entrance to Cero Colorado is another 2 and 3-bedroom condominium project – Santarena. Anyone entering the roundabout in San Jose del Cabo will notice the ongoing construction of Home Depot on one corner and City Market (La Comer’s highest-end store) on another. But driving down the main road in the hotel zone shows five more residential condos being constructed – four on the beach side and one across the road. The most notable is the six stories of steel girders being erected beside and in front of La Missiones. This is Mare Cabo. Mare Cabo offers two- and three-bedroom condos with views of the Sea of Cortez and the Vidanta Golf Course, a pool, a pickleball court, and more. Pre-construction listings of some units are as low as $643,000.

Phase 2 of Tortuga Bay at the roundabout is also being constructed. These ocean-view condos offer two and three-bedroom units and penthouses with rooftops ranging from about $900,000 to $2.45 million. The complex has multiple swimming pools, a fitness center, pickleball courts, a swim-up pool bar, and even a dog park. Of course, it is right on the Sea of Cortez and so it also has amenities on the beach.

Down from the plazas below La Comer in Bahia de Palmas are three additional projects – two on the beach. Nolah is a 16-unit condominium complex offering two and three-bedroom and three-bath units of ranging from about 900 square feet to approximately 1,300 square feet. With views of the Sea of Cortez, the development is only steps from the beach. The units are for sale for approximately $850,000. There is a rooftop area with a pool and semi-private cabana lounge areas, with a great view of the Sea of Cortez.

Below Nolah on the beach is Emma. Despite its imposing six-story façade, Emma houses only 16 residences. The 3- and 4-bedroom layouts range from 3,830 to 4,122 square feet, and dwarf comparable luxury beachfront residences elsewhere in Los Cabos. The amenities of Emma include not only a capacious swimming pool featuring stunning ocean views, but also a game room, fitness facility, and onsite deli and bar. As the complex is right on the beach, it also has the benefit of being ocean front with a beautiful sanding beach.

The final condominium complex currently under construction on Bahia de las Palmas is Albaluz. This development is almost like a condo hotel with 33 units ranging from 430 square feet hotel-type rooms to three-bedroom units with approximately 1,850 square feet inside and another 1,000 outside. The amenities of the complex are extensive – swimming pool, fitness center, on-demand spa, lobby bar and a beach club restaurant. The prices range up to $2.5 million.
