Over the past year, we have become fans of Chef Alex Brulhart. His food is influenced by Swiss, French, and Mexican flavors and the table side preparation of many of the dishes makes any dinner an experience. My wife Beth recently went with a friend to both Alexander’s (her cousin Joyce for dinner) and Vibrant’s (her friend Tanya for lunch). Both restaurants are located on the marina at the back side of Plaza Bonita. Both restaurants are on the waterfront not only providing views of the marina but also of all of the street entertainers that perform along the sidewalk beside the water.
The first thing that you will notice arriving at either of his restaurants is a large wrapped platter of the fresh fish, shrimp, lobster, and steaks available that day. Not only are they available but you can have them cooked at your table. Of course, our favorite way to start the meal is with a table-side Caesar Salad. For lunch with Tanya, Beth had a Caesar Salad and Tanya had the Goat Salad with goat cheese, strawberries, and large garlic croutons. For their main course, Beth went to her favorite – shrimp – and choose the grilled garlic shrimp with fresh vegetables and rice. Tanya chose tuna sashimi with onions, avocado, and cucumber in ponzu and chili sauce.
For the dinner with Joyce, Beth had the Caesar Salad made table side and Joyce had a Garden Salad. However, both of them went for the Tequila Shrimp for their entrées. This is also a cooked table side.
At both places, the food was excellent, the service attentive and the atmosphere great.
