Restaurant Bar Rancho Grande San Ignacio

John Anderson, Editor
When diving down the Baja it is always good to know where to stay and places to eat. San Ignacio is one of the first towns after the border between Baja California and Baja California Sur. It is also the town near the San Ignacio Lagoon, which is the protected bay for grey whales and some of the best whale watching in the world. The small town of San Ignacio has a central square that is surrounded by small shops, restaurants and a church. On the northeast corner of that square is Restaurant Bar Rancho Grande, a Mexican restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. The menu offers a great choice of appetizers, soups, salads, Mexican food, hamburgers and salads as well as main courses of steaks, seafood, chicken and specials.

Four of us were there for a quick lunch as we explored San Ignacio. Michele ordered a beetroot salad with large squares of cheese and added shrimps. Beth ordered taquitos with chicken, which were served on a bed of lettuce with guacamole and sour cream. Mike ordered the Mexican combination that had a taco, a quesadilla, and an enchilada with rice beans and salsa.

It was great to sit out on the deck looking at the activity in the central square and enjoy our lunch.
