Baja Screens Install at Pueblo Campestre Townhouse

John Anderson, Editor

One of the things that are great about the townhouse in Pueblo Campestre Phase 2 is the French doors and the integration of indoor and outdoor spaces.  However, this is also one of the challenges – we need the doors open for airflow but somehow need to keep the flies out.  We had Phantom Screens installed on two of our doors in the house in Zacatitos by Baja Screens and decided to contact them to solve this problem.  It turns out that Bert and Laurie Huisman, the owners live in a Fairway Home in Pueblo Campestre Phase 1 and so they were extremely familiar with the installs in the neighborhood.  They also had the Phantom screens for these French doors in stock.

Kris, Bert’s son came to the house to measure the six French doors that we have leading from the living room and dining room to the patio and interior courtyard and the three bedrooms.  An appointment was made for the installation.  A full team arrived to do the installation on the day and time that was agreed upon.  They had a trailer with all of the materials.  They set up two portable tables in the courtyard along with their saw to adjust the length of the top and base strips.  The care and precision with which they worked was amazing.  When drilling holes in the Cantera stone thresholds, it was done with a vacuum picking up the dust as they drilled.

For each of the doors, the two Phantom Screens met in the middle.  The installation also allows only one door to be open and one screen closed with a tight seal on the other door.  The complete installation took just under two days to complete.  The screen makes an incredible difference as it allows us to have airflow through the living room and dining room and the cool breezes into the bedrooms at night.

The photos included provide a great chronicle of the installation process and the final results.  We could not be happier with both the quality of the product and the quality of the installation process.  We will be looking to Baja Screens for an estimate on hurricane protection later in the year.
