Todos Santos was designated at Pueblo Magico. While its art galleries is one of the reasons, so is the live music that is available. La Morena has live entertainment on Monday, Wednesday and Friday every week. Monday now features Latin Music or Chris Paulson, Wednesday the ALT Blues Band and Friday is usually rock ‘n roll. Beyond the music, La Morena is a great place to enjoy Cuban inspired food.
The restaurant has indoor seating in the bar area at the front and a back patio with a full stage where the bands perform, people dine and dance to the music. Beth and I went last Monday to see Chris Paulson. We love his style of folk and rock, which features both great hits from people like Bob Dylan and lot of his original music that he has written and performed on the streets around the world for 35 years. We have seen him at Vida Soul on the East Cape and on his roof top deck at Casa Barbara in Todos Santos. His performance at La Morena was a good as it always is although he couldn’t play his harmonica, just having a wisdom tooth out a few days before. Jenelle Aubade joined him on stage for a few songs.
We ordered our drinks and looked at both the menu and the specials board. Beth chose the Jumbo Shrimp with a passion fruit beure blanc sauce from the specials board with jasmine rice and green beans. I ordered the slow cooked pork with salad, rice and grilled plantains. The flavors were great. We shared a chocolate mousse for dessert.
It was Halloween and so there was a steady line of young kids coming into the bar to do their trick or treating in costume. It is great that the restaurants in Todos Santos were participating.
