Wine Tasting Dinner at Misiones de Kino in Cabo San Lucas

John Anderson, Editor

Dawn Solomon and the Cabo Wine Club regularly host special wine tasting dinners at different restaurants in Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. One of the most recent was held at Misiones de Kino on the corner of 5th de Mayo in Cabo San Lucas. The event was held in the back room of the restaurant. The restaurant also has outdoor seating in the front, on the side and a full bar.

Misiones de Kino prepared a four-course dinner beginning with a Crab Cake paired with Paolini Chardonnay. The next course was a Spinach Salad with strawberries, pears, walnuts and cheese paired with Montefiori Rosato. The third course was fresh fish Veracruz paired with Paolini Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot blend. The final course was Chistoso Sausage Quesadilla paired with an Obertura Cabernet Blend.

For each course Dawn described the history of the wine that was being served. A former hotel and restaurant owner and the author of a book on Wine Tasting in the Napa Valley (available on Amazon), Dawn has extensive relationships in the Valle de Guadeloupe where the selected wines were from.

During the meal we enjoyed the guitar stylings and vocals of Jim. We were also offered the choice of desserts from the restaurant’s menu. We chose the Bananas Flambé that were prepared table side.

The dinner and wines were excellent, The service great and the company even better. Watching for Dawn’s wine dinners is definitely worth it.
