If you drive in the neighborhoods of San Jose del Cabo, you will see an abundance of small restaurants and taco places. But how do you know which ones to try? Our friends who live in MonteReal suggested that we try one that they do to all the time – Los Parados (The Standing). Located on Calle Buena Vista, Blvd.at Forjadores, this small roadside restaurant has seating at the bar in the front as well as tables on the side or is available for pick up. The food is in the style of Mexico City and apparently the family has small taquerias in several locations around the country.
While a rustic environment, Enrique our server was great in explaining to us what was available and how it was prepared. The specialties are beef tacos, tacos al pastor and the same served in quesadillas. The meat is cooked on a grill and then chopped up on a natural wood block and combined with other ingredients in a large circular pan. The restaurant offers sodas or natural waters to drink. Beth and German ordered beef tacos, Holly ordered tacos al pastor and I ordered one taco and one quesadilla el pastor. The flavors were great and the quality of the meat and tortillas excellent. The three of them ordered their hibiscus flavored water and I had a Sprite, The four of us ordered a total of 10 tacos and one quesadillas and along with the drinks, the total check was $415 pesos. This is one of the benefits of finding the great local places in Los Cabos.
While Los Parados doesn’t appear to have a Facebook page, they have reviews on Google, Yelp and Restaurant Guru and get consistent 4-star ratings. So that is the easiest way to find them.
