In our search for furniture for our new townhouse being built in Pueblo Campestre, on one of the posts about furniture stores, we received a post from a maker of custom furniture. Carlos Ochoa has been doing woodwork since he was eight years old and now has a workshop in the Centenario in La Paz. The focus of his business is on custom made word furniture. But a visit to his Facebook page shows that he builds custom closets, doors and more for people’s homes. Some of the samples of the full kitchen cabinets that he had built were incredible.
As we are looking for dining room furniture and some outdoor furniture in natural woods, I reached out to Carlos to get some samples of his work and the prices that he charges. It is clear that he is quite meticulous because even when I asked for pricing on items similar to the images that I had seen, he asked for more detail on dimensions, wood colors and changes to the designs.
The photos that he provided showed that he has done a lot of work in bedrooms – beds, nightstands, dressers, full closets with built in shelves and shoe slots. His work also shows samples of small desks, benches and chairs that could be used in a bedroom or a den.
His dining room furniture included tables, chairs, buffets and more. We are interested in a round outdoor wood table and the only round table shown was a very nice side table. So, we asked about his ability to build one and he responded of course, but again asked for the dimensions and the type and placement of legs on the table.
This post provides photos of his work grouped by type of furniture. Virtually all the furniture appears to be built with parota wood and looks amazing.
