Dante's Restaurant for Ribs

John Anderson, Editor

Located on Paseo de Pescador, the main road in Chamizal just north of the transpeninsular, Dantes Restaurant had been recommended to us highly by friends for their ribs. Dantes has a large dining area under a high roof with a bar at the back of the room and a large stage for live music at the front. We had the opportunity to meet the owner, Edgar Dante Aguilar Ceseña. He and his wife, Gricel Pineda Nieto run the restaurant, which has been in this location for 24 years. Dante’s english was perfect. While born in San Ignacio, he grew up in East Los Angeles.

The menu at Dante’s offers a full range of bar-style appetizers – guacamole, wings, nachos, onion rings, fish and chips and more – soups and salads, sandwiches – steak, fish, chicken, hamburgers – Mexican specialties – quesadillas, chile rellenos, tacos, burritos – and their dinners. The dinner menu is where you will find Frank’s BBQ Ribs Dinner as well as steaks, fish and chicken dinners. Ethan, Lesley and Beth were there for the ribs, which are served with a green salad to start and then a baked potato, garlic bread and grilled vegetables. The double rack is a huge portion at a great price. As I am not a huge ribs fan, I ordered the chicken quesadillas with rice and beans. They two were a large portion and very good.

Jhovany Rojo, a great guitarist and vocalist was there to provide live music during our dinner. We always enjoy Jhovany and have seen him at The Hangman, Mama Mia (with Yilianny) and Latino 8. Check out the separate post with a video of a great song in Spanish (on both Enjoy Los Cabos Life and our YouTube channel).

We’re always very early to dinner and by the time that we were finishing the restaurant was starting to fill up.
