Beth pointed out that I was starting to look a little scruffy after our trip to the United Kingdom.  We had guests arriving the next day from Colorado.  So, it was time for another visit to Ernesto at Barberia Alpha. Located in the small shopping plaza by the Banamex on Blvd Antonio Mijares in downtown San Jose del Cabo, Barberia Alpha has three barber chairs, a manicure room and a washing room. I arrived without an appointment and Ernesto let me know that it would be about 30 minutes and asked if I would like something to drink – water, Coke, a shot of Tequila. I said no and began to read my book.

One of the staff came over and led me into the back room to shampoo my hair before moving to the barber chair. With clean hair, he sat me in the chair and draped a cloth around me neck. Ernesto confirmed that I wanted a hair cut, beard trim and a shave. I heartily agreed. He started by trimming the few hairs on the top of my head and then moved to a series of different depth pieces on the shaver and started trimming my hair – finishing up with a comb and scissors. During the process, he also trimming my eye brows, the hair in my ears and nose. The next step was to trim and shape my beard with great care. After the basics were done, he put shaving cream around my ears and on the back of my neck, put a fresh blade in his straight razor and cleaned up in these areas.

Before starting to shave my face, Ernesto made some fresh shaving cream and applied it to my face and neck and then wrapped my face in a hot towel. After letting it sit for a while, he added more fresh shaving cream and then carefully shaved my face, did some more beard trim with the razor and then cleaned my face and placed another towel over it. He then brought a hand massager and massaged my complete face. The final stage was to add two different skin bracers to my face and neck where it had been shaved.
