A recent post on Facebook asked where the best places were to eat in Cabo San Lucas. Several dozen people answered, ” Mother Flower.” This small restaurant located on the corner of Francisco Madero and Vincente Guerrero just down from Cabo Wabo offers Mexican delights. Decorated in Mexican themes with a mural of Mother Flower on one of the walls, the atmosphere is very pleasant. With abour 20 seats at a combination of high-top wooden tables and chairs at the bar to the kitchen, the menu offers a few soups, tacos, local seafoods, and several chef’s favorites.
Our server asked us what we would like to drink – Chardonnay for me and Limonada mineral for Beth – and gave us some time to study the menu. I chose the beef soup with beans, bacon, onions, chile verde, and cilantro to start, a Baja Fish Taco as my main course. Beth selected the Texas Flautas from the Chef’s Favorites without the cheese. The soup was served with flour tortillas, was delicious, and could be a meal in and of itself. The three Texas Flautas were huge (almost like burritos), good but a little to spicy for Beth (for her black pepper is a hot spice). So, she took the Baja Fish Taco on a flour tortilla with a white sauce, arbol salsa, coleslaw, and pico de gallo and I dug into the Texas Flautas. I ended up taking two of the three chicken flautas home for another meal.
The food was very good, the service excellent and the atmosphere very pleasant. Mother Flower has been open for two years and is worth a visit.
