Gringo Groceries

John Anderson, Editor

Located in Plaza del Cabo on the frontage road north of the Vidanta Golf Course Club House is Gringo Groceries. Walking through the doors, you see shelves and shelves filled with great highly sought after products that to date have only been available at California Ranch Market. I was greeted as I entered by Jesus Cerdeira Perez, a partner in the business and manager of this location. Gringo Groceries was first launched in Los Barriles in November 2023 and has now expanded to San Jose del Cabo.

To the left of the entry is a large stack of La Croix in different flavors. Beside them is a shelf with fresh bread. On the left wall is a cooler filled with drinks, butter, cheese, charcuterie snacks, and meats for tacos. To the right of the door, the shelves contain pet products as well as natural laundry and cleaning products. My favorite section was the long set of shelves along the left wall after the cooler that holds an amazing selection of canned soups, beans, chili, rice, salad dressings, sauces of all kinds, pickles, olives, and other types of jarred items. The selection of Campbell’s chunky soups and Amy’s soups was amazing as were the cans of beans and chili of all temperatures. The whole back wall was covered with shelves of more natural products like Annie’s pastas, polenta, tuna, sardines, chickpeas, all kinds of other seeds, jams and jellies, different sugars, flour and kosher products. On the right wall at the back are beauty products. The check-out desk is in the middle of the right wall.

The middle of the store has two freezers with meats on one side and pizzas, pastas, rice, and berries of different kinds on the other. The rest of the store has several lower shelve units with every kind of cracker, chips, cereals, cookies and more that you could want – all natural.

I loaded up on some soups and chili before I left. Currently, they only accept cash. The credit card system is in process and will be available soon.

To get a clear sense of all the products and brands visit the Los Barriles website. It will be updated to include San Jose del Cabo soon. https://www.ggroceriesbaja.com/
