DINNER AT ZAC'S BAR AND GRILL IN ZACATITOS

John Anderson, Editor

Zac’s Bar and Grill has been central to the community of Los Zacatitos since it opened in 2007. Located right at the entrance to the neighborhood, Angel and Paul Rini have expanded the restaurant twice during the last five years. There are regular events – live music, Oscar parties – and the residents use Zac’s for regular ladies’ lunches, weekly Cribbage tournaments and more.  The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor dining with seating at long bars in both rooms.  With live music, Zac’s typically offers an all-you-can-eat buffet.

The menu is extensive – nine pages long not included the alcohol and drink menu. There are several appetizers, including a number featuring seafood, soups, sandwiches, burgers – beef, veggie, and fish – several different salads, Mexican foods – tacos, burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, and more – seafood, ribs and chicken from the grill, pasta, pizzas on Mondays.

Ethan ordered poblano peppers rings for the table. Breaded and fried, the poblano rings are served with ranch dressing and a chipotle dressing. It was a little chilly and so I decided to have a bowl of baked potato soup to start. It is always delicious and comes with two slices of garlic bread with cheese. For the main course Claude selected the enchiladas stuffed with chicken, Ethan the coconut shrimp, and I chose the chicken parmesan. The six-coconut shrimp, an appetizer on the menu, comes with a sweet and spicy pineapple dip. The chicken parmesan is served with pasta with a pomodoro sauce, grilled vegetables, and garlic bread. We shared the brownie with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream for dessert.

The food was very good with large portion sizes. Raul, our waiter was excellent as always and the atmosphere at Zac’s Bar & Grill is great. You can see the sunset over the hills to the west of Zacatitos while sitting in the front dining room.https://www.zacsbar.com/ https://www.facebook.com/Zacs60Angel
