Since September 2024 there have been a surprising number of earthquakes in Baja California Sur, with most of them centered near San Jose del Cabo. The average number of earthquakes in Los Cabos per year is 122. However, in the past seven days there have been 80 earthquakes. Most of them are not very strong – the strongest during this period being 2.7, with 24 quakes over 2.0 on the Richter scale. So, it is common to hear and feel a rumbling several times a day in this region of recent. While there is almost no reported damage, we have hairline cracks in the plaster in our walls and had one picture fall from a shelf.
