Located on the corner of Manuel Doblano and Miguel Hererra just one block from Plaza Mijares is one of the best Italian restaurants in San Jose del Cabo – Osteria 107. Cristiano, the owner and manager of the restaurant is from Italy and he and his partners have Italian restaurants in Playa del Carmen and Tulum on the Yucatan Peninsula.
The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating or seating at the bar, if you want a cocktail and some appetizers. It is very well designed. Cristiano met us at the door (there is parking right in front in their exclusive zone) and asked where we would like to sit. We chose a table along the back wall in the outdoor section. There is a long banquette with great cushions along the wall. Our server provided us with menus and asked what we would like to drink. Beth asked for limonada mineral and I selected a glass of Chardonnay. The menu provided a full range of Italian choices – appetizers including wood-fired focaccia, salads, risotto, homemade pastas, meat, fish and chicken dishes, and wood-fired pizzas. There were also a few specials shown on a blackboard.
For an appetizer Beth chose the Caesar Salad without the slices of parmesan cheese on top (lactose intolerant) and I order the bruschetta. The bruschetta is three pieces of fresh bread pile high with chopped tomatoes, olive oil and garlic – delicious. For the main course, Beth selected the chicken parmesan and I ordered the grilled salmon on a mushroom ragout. The flavor and portion sizes of both were excellent. For our final course – dessert – we chose the tiramisu.
As always, the food and service were excellent. The ambiance is great and Cristiano is an amazing host.
