On a post asking people to identify the best local restaurants, several people posted about Humadera Restaurante. Located on Paseo del Pacifico Altamira, just off the road to Rancho San Lucas at the far north end of Cabo San Lucas, this family-owned restaurant has been open for five years. It appears that a lot of their business is take out from their smokers with family size orders of Chicken, Carne Asada, Chorizo, Ribs and Arrachera. Full, half and individual orders are also available. There were at least six take-out orders while I was there for lunch.

The menu that I received at my table in the very pleasant restaurant included appetizers (soup, nachos, mushrooms, chicharron of pork belly, kampachi in aguachile, and more), several different hamburgers (Classic, Hawaiian, Humadera with chorizo, and a Special), quesadillas, sopes, handmade tostadas, as well as the items from the grill outlined above. Ada Maria Gutierrez, the owner (along with her husband, Jose Humberto Hurtado Espinoza) described the menu to me and her son was doing the serving. I was provided with a bowl of tortilla chips and an amazing crushed tomato salsa to start off my meal.

I decided to order two different things from the menu – a Classic burger, which Ada Maria had said was delicious – and a Mushroom Tostada. Fries were available for additional $20 pesos, but, as I am on a high protein diet, I restrained myself. The burger was huge with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and onions on a sesame seed bun. I had to discard the bun (because of my diet) but I devoured the rest. It was flavorful and delicious. In fact, I was so full, I only tasted the mushroom tostada and took it home with me.

The atmosphere is great, the family of owners who manage and run the restaurant were friendly and very helpful, the food was delicious, and my total bill with a large Diet Coke was $255 pesos. If you are in the north end of Cabo San Lucas, this restaurant is truly worth a visit.
