PANACHE INCREDIBLE EUROPEAN DISHES AT 35% DISCOUNT

John Anderson, Editor

I recently saw a post from Panache Restaurant in Cabo San Lucas that the restaurant is offering a 35% discount on the dinner menu (other than steaks and mussels) during the summer. Located on November 20th, the street diagonally off of the main street going into Cabo San Lucas just past the McDonalds, there is valet parking right at the front door. I quickly made a reservation for four of us – we were joined by our old friends and new neighbors, Jerry and Maura. As you enter the restaurant, the sign above the door says “When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that’s Amore,” which gives an indication of the combination of French and Italian foods served at Panache. We were greeted by the owner’s sister, who manages the restaurant and led to our table and provided with menus. The air-conditioned interior dining room has two big torotes covered with lights, the kitchen on the back to the left, the bar on the wall opposite the entry, with a toy train that runs around the top of the bar on a shelf.

We ordered our drinks while taking the time to look over the menus and decide what we would order for dinner. I asked for the deviled eggs as a starter for the table. Beth and I ordered a Caesar Salad to share, with the sliced parmesan cheese on the side. Jerry and Maura chose the mixed green salad with avocado and burrata cheese. While we were waiting for our starters, our server provided us with the warm rolls and butter to start. For our main courses, I choose the Pork Shank; Beth selected the spaghetti with meatballs; Maura, the Vegan penne dish with mushrooms and zucchini and Jerry ordered the Blossom Pumpkin and Mushroom Tortellini. For anyone who has not been to Panache, the portion sizes are very large and can easily to shared (with lots left over).

All of the food was wonderful as always. The salads were large and more than enough to share for two. Jerry, Beth and I all enjoyed the deviled eggs. Beth can never get enough of their fresh bread and butter! My pork shank with a mushroom sauce and mashed potatoes was excellent. The pasta ordered by the other three also received rave reviews.

While we were all stuffed, we decided to share the tiramisu, which is not only delicious but is enough for six people. Jerry and I also enjoyed limoncello to go along with the dessert.
