Ruba’s Bakery on Jose Maria Morelos in the Art District in San Jose del Cabo has been a favorite restaurant of many for several years. When Newport Plaza opened in La Playita in Puerto Los Cabos, the back corner of the plaza featured a smaller version of Ruba’s – Rubita’s Bakery and Deli. With seating both outside and inside, Rubita’s offers a variety of choices for breakfast and lunch ranging from egg dishes, bagels and toast to sandwiches, salads, pizza and more.

I recently stopped into Rubita’s for breakfast. The lunch and deli menu is presented on large boards behind the counter and a breakfast menu was displayed beside the desk where you make your order. There is also a large display case of pastries and breads where you can make your selection and bring it to the counter to pay. After reviewing the breakfast menu, I decided to try the Brio-Egg. The great server took my order for food and drink and asked if it was for take-out or to eat in the restaurant. She asked me to please choose a table and that she would bring me my food. The Brio-Egg is described as Brioche bread stuffed with creamy scrambled eggs with spinach and parmesan cheese.” She brought me my Diet Coke and a little later the breakfast sandwich. The brioche bread was thick and perfectly grilled, the eggs creamy (as advertised) and the sandwich was served with crispy onions. As would be expected from Ruba’s, the food and service were excellent.
