JAZAMANGO CAFE TODOS SANTOS

John Anderson, Editor

Nestled in behind Ezra Katz’s Art Gallery on Benito Juarez in downtown Todos Santos is Jazamango Cafe. The restaurant was created by Chef Javier Plascencia, who also offers Jazamango Farm-to-Table in Todos Santos. The restaurant went through a complete renovation just over a year ago and added a bar and lounge area at the back of the restaurant for evenings. Seating at Jazamango Cafe is at several levels within very pleasant areas surrounded by trees. The menu offers a Brunch from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm that includes a bowl of fruit, French Toast, Pancakes of different kinds, Croissants, a number of different egg dishes, avocado toast, and chilaquiles as breakfast items. The menu also offers sandwiches, tacos, a pulled pork pibil, salads, a rice bowl, hamburger and chicken burger, and burritos. Of course, guacamole and chips are also available.

I was enjoying lunch with Ezra Katz after visiting his gallery. He chose the rice bowl which has White Rice, Seared Catch of the day, in this case tuna, Sesame Seeds, Carrot, Cucumber. Avocado, Cherry tomato, Sambal Sauce, and mixed Lettuce. I selected the Pork Pibil Torta, which had Shredded Pork in Axiote sauce, Smoked Pineapple and Habanero sauce, Guacamole on a Housemade Telera Bread Bun. Both choices were excellent.

Jazamango Cafe offers a great atmosphere, good food and very good service.
