Sometimes, I think that we are in Italy rather than Mexico as there are some many great Italian restaurants between San Jose del Cabo – La Forchetta, Come a Casa, La Dolce, Fiorenza, La Osteria, Osteria 107, Pietros; Cabo San Lucas – Panache, Salvatore G’s, The Italian Job, Romeo y Julieta, Trattoria da Pietro, Invita, Italian Shark Chef; and Todos Santos – Tre Galline, Il Giordano, Pizzeria RomAntica. There is someplace for everyone. Many of them owned by Italians.

One of our favorites in San Jose del Cabo is Osteria 107. Cristiano, the owner was a partner in two restaurants on the Yukatan Peninsula – one in Playa del Carmen and another in Tulum. When he came to San Jose del Cabo, after searching for a location, he chose the building a block off of Plaza Mijares on the up street that was originally Morgan’s Steakhouse. With some renovations, it is a beautiful space with both inside seating in a dining room and bar and outdoor seating in the courtyard adjacent the kitchen (where you can smell the delicious food being cooked). The menu at Osteria 107 provides a wide range of Italian and Italian inspired dishes including appetizers, salads, pastas, pizza, fish, seafood and meat main courses with risotto and cauliflower purées. There are also weekly specials displayed on blackboards in both the indoor and outdoor dining area.

Mario, our server brought us menus and asked us what we would like to drink. The ladies went for sparkling water and pink limonada, Chris chose a local beer and I asked for a glass of Chardonnay. Chris ordered focaccia bread to start, which was a large round pizza-like presentation that we all shared. It was great. For main courses, Beth chose her favorite Chicken Paramagiana, I ordered the salmon on a cream spinach and mushroom base, Tracey selected the seared tuna with a cauliflower purée, and Chris went for the Fettuccine pasta with seafood. The flavors were amazing, the sauces great and the preparation just as we had hoped.

Mario provided us with great service and Cristiano came over to ask about our dinner and introduced us to his new manager, Ailen. He also suggested that we have a little dessert, even though we were stuffed. We shared a bowl of ice cream with a scoop of vanilla and a scoop of chocolate.

It was a great night of food and conversation. Another benefit of Osteria 107 is that they have exclusive parking right in front of the restaurant.
