We had Holly Heiser Hornyan, a talented artist and mural painter from Denver create a 35-foot mural along the wall in our back patio. When Questro had not put in the wooden shutters in an insert in the outer wall of the kitchen our townhouse as they did in all phase 1 townhouses of our model, we decided to ask Holly to create a mural to fill this space. Beth found an image of hacienda style shutters that she like that she felt would be appropriate for the space.

Holly and Beth met and decided on the design and the colors – using the red from our second floor of the townhouse as a base. After determining the hours in which the inset would be in the shade, Holly spent several afternoons preparing the wall and then creating the actual mural. She is very meticulous in the art – frequently stepping and back and looking carefully at the perspective. Doing so, she actually found that she would have to shift the shutters to make sure that if closing they would match appropriately – resulting in a greater opening in the mural.
