When we lived in Playa del Carmen, Beth and I both had Italica scooters. I have been riding motorcycles since I was 12-years old and have always loved them. I fought with myself but decided that it was time to get another one, especially with the traffic problems in San Jose del Cabo. I wanted a scooter that would be comfortable for both of us on short trips to the store or restaurants that also had enough ccs to drive up to Todos Santos, if I wanted.

After looking at all of the places that sell scooters – almost every grocery store does here – Costco, Soriana, Chedraui, Coppel, I noticed that Coppel had opened a Motos store at their location across from Soriana and City Club on the way to the airport in San Jose del Cabo. I had done some research and thought I knew what model I wanted but decided to take a look at the options offered at Coppel Motos. The standalone building in the parking lot of the plaza has scooters, small 4x4s, motorcycles and accessories.

I was interested in the newly released Vento M1 200 cc 2026 model. Unfortunately, as it is a new model, there was not one on display in the showroom. This scooter has a lot of new features including the Ventec Smart technology, you can connect your motorcycle to your cell phone to control your music, maps, and even calls; it also has a USB port and a digital dashboard. From a safety and comfort perspective, it has a 5-speed automatic transmission, a hydraulic disc front brake and drum back brake, aluminum wheels, LED lighting and great front and real shocks. There is also great storage capacity with both the enclosed box and the rack and under-seat storage.

I was convinced and ordered the Vento M1 2026 and was told that it would be in the showroom in a little more than a week. I then also purchased two helmets – full face for me and one that was a little more open for Beth. Coppel also offers motorcycle insurance – either just civil responsibility or their plus, which covers roadside assistance and much more. I chose the Plus coverage.
