Located beside El Grill on the frontage road going south a black and a half from Valerio Gonzalez (Walmart street) is Arrabilito Restaurante Argentino. The owners Sebastian and Carola are originally from Argentina and Carola grew up cooking empanadas at the docks in Buenos Aires with her family. Arrabalito is a regular at the Organic Market in San Jose del Cabo with their empanadas and pizza and also deliver to the East Cape on Wednesday afternoons.
We have been to Arrabalito many times and usually have the flank steak with comes with a green salad. On this visit, we both decided to try something different from the menu. Beth ordered the Fettuccine (you can choose your pasta) Bolognese and I selected the Chicken Breast in a Gorgonzola sauce. When the food was served, the first thing that we noticed was the size of the portions – we both ended up taking half of our dinners home. Beth said that the Fettucine was delicious and it was just as good for lunch the next day. The pasta was served with four warm slices of toast, which Beth ate with some of Arrabalito’s delicious chimichurri sauce. My plate had a very large and thick chicken breast with noisette potatoes and asparagus all smothered in a creamy gorgonzola sauce. If I wasn’t still on a high-protein diet, I would have used the spoon to eat all of the gorgonzola sauce before I was done.
As always, the food was excellent, the service great and the restaurant was filling up as we were getting ready to leave. Always a good place for dinner at a very reasonable price.
