Located almost to the beach on the end of the road by Baja Beans is a new small villa with rental units that offers a sushi restaurant – Besos de Mezcal (Kiss of Mezcal) and live music. At the invitation of Richard Hastings, we visited recently to hear Richard, David Raitt and Dave Hutcheson play in the courtyard of the restaurant and villas. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the menu offers a wide variety of sushi rolls, salads, hamburgers, wings and fries and specialty cocktails. There is even a kid’s menu.
As my wife is not much for sushi, she found a teriyaki chicken dish that she loved. It was served with rice and a great selection of fresh grilled vegetables. While not on the menu, the kitchen prepared veggie rolls for me with cucumbers, beats, avocado and mango. Also delicious.
We enjoyed the food while enjoying the music from the band even more. Richard Hastings is an amazing guitarist and vocalist. David Raitt added percussion, harmonica, flute and vocals. Dave Hutcheson, another member (and manager) of David Raitt’s Baja Boogie Band joined a number of the tunes on bass guitar and vocals. It was a great night of music.
Richard Hastings returns to Besos de Mezcal on Wednesday nights at 6:00 pm and Richard Hastings, David Raitt, Ashbolt Stewart (on drums) and special guests are playing Saturday night (May 28th) at Poke Loko in Todos Santos.
