Seven years ago, the first accommodations for visitors to El Triunfo opened – Cabanas El Triunfo. This unique property has nine cabanas on site and one away from the main site near the Gold Mine on the other side of town. Located down the street from the Ice Cream Parlor on the main street of El Triunfo and across an arroyo, there is a gate that enters a courtyard for the small boutique hotel. On the right of the main gate is an office for check out. With a circular drive around a big tree is a swimming pool and children’s pool, a kitchen and seating for the breakfasts that are included with an overnight stay and the cabanas. This central entrance area has displays of old horse drawn buggies and equipment from the history of silver and gold mining in El Triunfo.
The nine cabanas range in size from accommodating two to six people. All cabanas have full bathrooms. Our cabana, “Luz de Luna” (Moonlight) could sleep four with a king-size bed and two couches that convert to single beds. The unit also has a full kitchen with an island with seating. There is an outside deck with a table to enjoy the outdoors and view.
In addition to the nine cabanas in the main location, the boutique resort also has a separate home, Quinta Real de Oro, on the hill near the La Ramona smokestack and the gold mine, Tunel de las Almas. This home is design for groups and events, with a main house, an apartment, its own swimming pool and outside bar. The hacienda has great views of El Triunfo, with a fully-equipped kitchen, combined living and dining room and three bedrooms upstairs. The apartment is a very large room with three large beds.
Cabanas El Triunfo offers a whole number of experiences for its guests. These range from a hiking trail to the top of the hill behind the cabanas that provides a complete view of the town of El Triunfo to zip lines, guided tours of the town and Gold Mine, horseback riding and ATV tours. The town also has Museo Ruta de Plata with displays and a fully interactive experience providing information about the history of the silver and gold mining in the town.Evidence of the silver route is available around the town include La Ramona and Juliana, the smokestacks from the mill and smelter locations in town.
The town of El Triunfo has seven restaurants. All are open for breakfast and lunch but the latest that any are open is 4:00 or 5:00 pm. Be prepared to eat early or make food in the kitchen of your cabana. In our case, we decided to drive into La Paz (about 40 miles) to have dinner at a great restaurant – Quemadero – on the Malecon.
