Carmat Carpinteria Install in Todos Santos Condos

John Anderson, Editor

We have had great experience with Carlos Ochoa and his team from Carmat Carpinteria in La Paz building custom furniture and built-ins for our townhouse in Pueblo Campestre in San Jose del Cabo. We knew that we wanted to make several upgrades to our industrial style condos in Santas & Santos in Todos Santos and that Carlos was the one to do them.

Carlos and his team came out and measured each of the areas where were needed cabinets to be built in the condos – kitchen, linen closet and bedroom. We also wanted queen size beds in each of the bedrooms, a medicine cabinet in the bathrooms and bar stools for the peninsula between the kitchen and the living room. Beth selected rosa morada as the wood and shaker style for the design. We knew that the lighter rosa morada would match the grey of the concrete floors, countertops, and walls.

Carmat Carpinteria has a large shop in La Paz. The first step was to build the cabinets, doors and furniture in their shop. When they were ready to install (about three weeks later), the first day was dedicated to placing the inserts under the kitchen counter, the peninsula, the linen closet, and the bedroom. These inserts had to be slightly adjusted in each unit because the concrete countertops and not perfectly level on the underside. Once they were in the Carmat Carpinteria team also carefully put clear caulking between the cabinets and the concrete where necessary. The second day of the installation focused on placing the door on the cabinets and the shelves and clothes bars in the closets as well as the drawer fronts on the drawers in the both the kitchen and the bathroom. The third day of the installed included placing the queen-size beds and headboards in each of the units, adding the desk into the bedroom closet and placing the shelves in the bedroom, kitchen and living room.

The built-ins completely changed the look of each of the condos. With the artwork and accessories in place, our condos had made an amazing transformation.
