Casa Fuerte Restaurante in Tlaquepaque

John Anderson, Editor

During our trip to Guadalajara, we made two sojourns to Tlaquepaque and just loved the shops, restaurants, walking street, sculptures and fountains. On our second trip we stopped at Casa Fuerte on Calle Independencia, the walking street in Tlaquepaque. There was seating outside adjacent to the street but we walked through a tunnel over pine leaves into an outdoor dining area shaded with umbrellas. The restaurant also has a classic separate bar and enclosed private dining rooms.

The menu was quite extensive with a good selection of appetizers, soups and salads, Mexican specialties and lots of fish and shrimp dishes. I ordered the garlic mushrooms as an appetizer and Bill ordered the special cheese dish. Beth ordered some guacamole for us to share. while we were waiting our server brought us some tortilla chips, salsas and a basket of fresh bread. The special cheese dish came hot in a hot stone bowl and the server cut it up to make it easy for Bill to eat. For entrées, there was tortilla soup, chicken fajitas and tuna tostadas. The food was very good and our server was excellent.

Overall, our trip to Guadalajara was very enjoyable with its views, restaurants, shops and attractions. We will be making another trip back in the fall.
