We were invited to see Liiroi Douglass’ band Tan Lines at the pool at Cerritos Surf Town during their weekly pool party. We arrived at the guard gate and after following the signs from the highway between Cabo San Lucas and Todos Santos and he told us where to park to visit the restaurant. Having not visited the resort before, I decided to wander around and explore the property. to get a sense of what this beach front resort was like.
In the center is a very large swimming pool that includes a swim up bar. On one side of the pool are racks of surfboards. Cerritos is one of the best surf beaches on the Pacific and so the resort helps people enjoy the sport. The are three different dining areas under cover near the pool that are served by waiters strolling around the pool. There are two rows of rooms on each side of the pool, with palapa roofs. You can select beach front or garden villas with one bedroom or studios on two floors that view either the beach or garden. The rooms are nicely appointed and reasonable. The most expensive room – beach front one-bedroom villa is just under $100 US a night and there is a discount for locals of 15%. Cerritos Surf Town also has a spa that offers facials and massages. The resort is right on the beach so you can enjoy the view, the sand and the sun.
Each Sunday, there is a pool party with live music from 2:00 to 4:00 pm so you can enjoy music, cocktail specials (like 2×1 margaritas) and food at the pool or in the covered dining areas. Tan Lines played several sets of rock music for the crowd and handed out free stickers. Check out the separate post of Tan Lines playing an original tune dedicated to a lost friend – Vaccaro. While we were listening to the music, we ordered some lunch. We started off with guacamole that came with pico de gallo and lots of freshly made tortilla chips. I ordered the tuna sashimi and Beth chose the Baja-style shrimp tacos on flour tortillas.
We will definitely take a day some time to visit with Charlie, our Lhasa Apso to enjoy the resort – yes, it is pet friendly. There are even free day passes to the pool for locals on some days!
