Chin’s Cabo at The Palmilla Shoppes after Lockdown

John Anderson, Editor

I asked Beth where she would like to go for her birthday on June 24th. After all of this time staying at home in Zacatitos, she really wanted to go out and to have Chinese food. Chin’s Cabo in the Palmilla Shoppes for open for both take out and dine in at their outdoor tables and so off we went. We were greeted by the staff in masks, asked to use their hand sanitizers and step on a sanitizer pad for our shoes. Each of the tables was marked with a sign that indicated that it was disinfected and they were spaced out to meet the social distancing requirements. We watched the staff use hand sanitizer after each delivery of food or beverages to a table. Rather than handing out menus, the full menu was on a rolling board that was about 5 feet high and was brought to the table.

We ordered soup to start – Hot and Sour for me and Wonton for Beth. Potstickers as an appetizer and the Crispy Chicken with steamed rice as the entrée to share. To protect the food from the server each item was delivered underneath a plastic cover (like the top of a cake plate). As in our past experiences, the food was great and the service was excellent. It was so good that we got an order for BBQ Fried Rice to take with us for another meal.

But all good things must come to an end, a credit card I hadn’t used for months was denied (it turns out that this bank requires you to phone once a month while out of the country). However, the manager was very accommodating allowing me to go to an ATM to get the cash needed and to return to pay our bill.
