Choosing Window Coverings for our New Townhouse in Pueblo Campestre Phase 2 – Ventanas

John Anderson, Editor

The new townhouse in Pueblo Campestre Phase 2 has six sets of French doors. We needed to decide which ones would need window coverings based on both sunlight and privacy issues. Ultimately, we decided that the three bedrooms really needed window coverings. The other rooms didn’t get enough direct sunlight during the day or need to be covered for privacy.

We explored three different businesses to provide them – Decoraciones Claudette, who made the drapes in the condo in El Conquistador where we are staying, Hunter Douglas in the small shopping center just past Costco and Ventanas Design & Decor in Plaza del Cabo on the frontage road to Walmart in San Jose del Cabo.

The first consideration was how dark did we want to the rooms. I would love to have black out blinds as I sleep much better in the dark. Beth on the other hand reminded me that they would also block the airflow is we wanted to have the doors open and the fan on at night rather than air conditioning. The question then was what type of sheer window coverings would provide the combination of privacy, darkness and airflow.

Ultimately, Beth was happiest with her visit to Ventanas Design & Decor, both with the choices and the pricing that was available. She examined a number of different fabrics, looked at the curtain rods and made a selection. Choosing a modern style black curtain rood with counting rings in a slit in the bottom that could be above the doors provided the most elegant option. She chose a linen style fabric that would allow airflow but when bunched still provide some privacy and darkness to the bedrooms.
