One of our favorite Italian restaurants in San Jose del Cabo is Come a Casa. Located on Ignacio Zaragoza (the down street) about one block up the hill from Jazmin’s, Come a Casa requires a reservation no matter when you want to go. As a walk in, you might be able to get a seat at the counter by the kitchen, which is not a place to be. Come a Casa is a family run restaurant with Executive Chef Mauricio working with his son and daughter to offer spectacular food. To meet the constant demand, they added a new room behind the Art Gallery next door, breaking through the wall. The new room offers the bar and seven additional tables – it is still always full.
Beth and I went recently without a reservation late in the afternoon and promised to be out before the guests arrived for the reserved table. We were seated in the new room. The menu has a full offering of appetizers including an amazing pizza bread, salads, fresh pastas, lasagna, wood-oven-fired pizza, and more. Beth and I shared a Caesar Salad to start (with the parmesan on the side), which has an amazing dressing with the flavor of the anchovies coming through. For a main course, Beth chose the Tagliatelle with a ragu con carne, and I ordered the Amatriciano with bacon and burrata cheese on top. Chef Mauriclo’s tomato sauce is amazing. We ended our meal with the Lemon tart, which has a burnt crust on top and vanilla ice cream.
As always, the food and service were excellent, the portion sizes great, and the atmosphere pleasant.
