Dentistry is very advanced in Los Cabos, which is especially true at Dental Studio Los Cabos. I went in for a delayed cleaning of my teeth and after Dr. Andres Garcia did the cleaning, he mentioned that I had several issues that I needed to address and suggested that we do an x-ray. Dental Studio has a 360- x-ray machine that while standing it takes the picture from all different angles letting the dentist look at your teeth from the top, bottom and both sides.

The result of the x-ray was that Dr. Andres identified a number of issues that needed to be addressed from simple fillings to checking a root canal performed by another dentist in the past. Dr. Andres did some follow up appointments on the fillings but asked Dr. Pedro Ortiz, the owner of Dental Studio Los Cabos to examine the root canals. It turns out that the root canal that had been done about 10 years before in Boston had not been sealed correctly and as a result bacteria had gotten in near the root and compromised it. As a result, it needed to be redone and the crown replaced. There was also another tooth that needed a root canal and new crown.

Dr. Pedro is always very careful to make sure that nothing hurts and that you are very comfortable while being treated. After each root canal, a digital scan devise is used to precisely determine the size and shape of the crown that is needed. Dental Studio Los Cabos has a 3-D cutting and printing machine that when fed the digital information cuts and shapes the crown from a blank that is matched to the color of your teeth. I watched as Dr Pedro manipulated the digital file on a screen behind me in the operetory before sending it to the 3-D printer. He informed me that it would take 12 minutes for the crown to be ready. Once the crown was finished, it was fitted to the tooth and adjusted for height, ensuring that the upper and lower teeth fit together perfectly. This process was followed on a separate appointment for the second tooth.

While visiting a dentist is no one’s favorite activity, Dental Studio and its digital technology make the process faster, easier and more comfortable that my previous experiences in the United States. Thank you, Dr. Andres and Dr. Pedro and your great assistants.
