One of the things about living in a beautiful sun-drenched area like Los Cabos is that you have to pay attention to your skin. As a result, I always have an annual checkup. We see Dr. Marco Antonio Ramirez Lopez, who has excellent reviews online and was recommended by our cardiologist, Dr. Alejandro Velderrain. Dr. Marco’s office is on Paseo de Los Marinos in Chamizal right next to Aqua Lab. He shares the space with his wife, Dr. Claudia Susana Guitierrez, an endocrinologist. Like many of the doctor’s offices in Los Cabos, it was a simple space with a number of chairs in a waiting area. Right on time, Dr. Ramirez opened his office door and invited me to enter. He had come to Los Cabos eleven years ago, and Dr. Velderrain helped to integrate into the community.

Dr Marco started the examination by checking the skin all over my body carefully and where necessary looking even more closely with a round-magnifying glass. He asked me if I used sunscreen. I said, no often enough and described the time that I spent every day in our community pool at Pueblo Campestre Phase 2. Overall, he said that I had no signs of skin conditions that needed treatment. However, the rough skin on my scalp needed attention. He outlined a three-week regimen with three different creams to get rid of the roughness and irritation but said that I would have to do it when I was not going to swim during that period. He also noted one mole that had returned on my stomach and we agreed that it should be removed. He used some local anesthetic and then removed it with an electrical probe. He provided me with the prescriptions that I needed and said that I should make an appointment after I had completed the three-week treatment of my scalp.
