We made a 3:30 reservation at Shade in La Fortuna to have a late lunch and enjoy Extra Large Perform. As the restaurant was completely booked, Marcus and Belen, the owners had put signs on each table with the name of guest. We asked our neighbor Tracy to join us for the afternoon. Shade has outdoor dining under a fabric roof, a special area for the stage for live performances, seating at the bar and outside with a fire pit. We found our table and later were greeted by Marcus and Belen and offered the special menu for the day.

We ordered our drinks, Diet Coke for me and LimonadaMinerale for the ladies and looked over the menu. Shade has a wood-fired pizza oven that makes great pizza. The menu also offers appetizers – guacamole, ceviche, chicken wings, quesadillas and more – a variety of tacos, hamburgers, salads, and chicken, fish, ribs, shrimp, fish, tuna, hot dogs, and steak from the grill.

We were all in the mood for fresh tacos. The ladies ordered the battered shrimp tacos in flour tortillas, and I chose the battered fish tacos with flour tortillas. Each of the taco plates had three tacos covered with shredded cabbage and carrots with a chipotle sauce on top, and three ramekins with guacamole, Pico de Gallo, and a salsa. There was lots of fish and shrimp in each taco. The fish tacos were juicy and flaky, and Beth and Tracy said the shrimp tacos were great too.

It was an absolute pleasure to watch Extra Large while we ate and drank. The six-piece band is full of life. Russell Leal, the lead singer, who also plays flute, saxophone and guitar as he dances around the stage. He gets people to get up and dance and performs in the middle of them with his wireless microphone. It was an amazing show.There was even a guy sitting up on the hillside above Shade with a cooler watching the show.

The food was great as was the service. Great place to stop if you are out on the East Cape of Los Cabos.
