Formula Uno

One of the challenges of living on the East Cape was the dirt roads, ruts, pot holes and topes (speed bumps) that are often hard to see. These can be very hard on a car or truck’s suspension. I noticed the front tires on my 2005 Toyota Tundra starting to wear on the outside so that I knew they were out of alignment. I stopped at a few places that advertised doing alignments and none of them actually did. I then was told by my friend Robert Ruyg that the only place to go was Formula Uno on the road to the airport across from the first Soriana location. Robert said that the father had started the business, grew it and trained his two sons to take it over. It is now one of the best places for general service in San Jose del Cabo. They do oil changes, brakes, tires, suspension work and more. It is also a full auto parts store.

I drove over after their lunch hour (from 1:00 to 3:00 each afternoon) and one of the managers immediately had my truck up on the hoist, reviewed it and then called me in to show me that work that needed to be done. Virtually all of the bushings on my front and back shock absorbers had to be replaced so that the alignment would be maintained after it was done. While I waited he provided me with a detailed item by item estimate of the parts and labor to do the work. At that time, he told me that he had all of the parts except for the bushing for the rack and pinion steering, which would take about a week to order.

When I returned to check on the arrival of the parts, I was informed that the work would take a full day, maybe a little more and that I should deliver the truck at 7:00 the next morning. They don’t open until 7:30 but they sign in the appointments starting at 7:00. My check engine light was on so I asked them to do a computer analysis for me as well.

At the end of the day, they called me to say that they would in fact need some time on the next day to finish. When I paid the bill, it was right on the estimate and did not included the extra cost for the bushings for the rack and pinion steering that had been ordered. When I asked about it, the service manager let me know that it just needed to be adjusted and not replaced so there was no extra charge. A complete printed report of the computer analysis of the system was also provided for me and left in the car. The manager told me that the work was guaranteed.

I was very impressed with the facilities, the attention to detail and the quality of customer service. I will definitely be back.
