Dana McLoughlin turns 59 tomorrow (4/5). Dana is a wife, mother, entrepreneur, and activist. As an owner of District MX in Plaza Peninsula, Dana and her husband Michael have not only provided great food and service for 10 years to their customers but they have supported many of the local charities at the same time. During COVID, District provided food for their employees but the employees demanded that they be allowed to run a take-out business to keep District afloat. Dana has helped rescue animals and supported the Sanctuary at Acre in Los Animas. As noted in the invitation to celebrate her birthday at District last night describes her as, “the glue, the soul, the energy, and everything that makes District what it is.”

Dana does every thng with passion. When the construction started on the roundabout near La Comer and Chedraui and disrupted business for every restaurant and retailer in San Jose del Cabo, she led the charge to fight for them. Inviting a large group, she spoke before the Mayor of Los Cabos, his cabinet and other influential people arguing for rational approaches to the construction – more at night, signage, notifications when closures would occur. Dana hosted a meeting at District with the architect and representatives of the construction company to try to find ways to mitigate the impact it was having of the community – no one wanting to travel to San Jose del Cabo, real estate agents refusing to show homes in the area, and businesses closing due to lack of business. Her concerns were expressed in a long Letter to the Editor in the Gringo Gazette. She has kept up the fight even after she was blocked and suggestions were made that her actions could impact her business.

We are so happy to have a woman like Dana as part of the Los Cabos community with a passion and dedication to it.
