Located in Plaza Pescador in the hotel zone in San Jose del Cabo is this small Mexican restaurant. We have walked by it hundreds of times – walking the dog or eating at Latino 8 and La Forchetta. I needed a break from working in the condo and decided to walk down for a snack.
La Mexicana Restaurant and Cantina has both inside air-conditioned seating and outdoor tables under umbrellas. While it was hot outside, I decided to sit outside under an umbrella. The menu has snacks (nachos, wings, guacamole, cheese, ceviche- tacos filled with almost anything that you could want – shrimp, octopus, chicken, steak, fish, pastor, pork and more – and some entrées – fish, chicken, steak, chicken, pasta, octopus. So there is clearly a lot of choice.
When I ordered my Coca Cola Light, I was brought a big basket of tortilla chips and a tray with pico de gallo, two salsas and limes to nibble on. I decided to order the nachos al pastor. The nachos were covered with cheese, beans, jalapenos, tomatoes, pastor and guacamole. The platter was huge and I ended up taking half of the plate home for a late night snack.
