Located on Blvd Forjadores across from the G20 Convention Center and Tienda 17 in San Jose del Cabo, La Tuna Restaurant and Bar is one of the best new restaurants in Los Cabos. In preparing for the celebration of Semana Santa starting next week, the restaurant just announced new hours – it will be open from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm every day with the full menu. On Sundays, the restaurant will open at 9:00 am to offer its Sunday Buffet, with great food and live entertainment for only $295 pesos.

In anticipation of Semana Santa, La Tuna Restaurant and Bar is also updating its menu by adding dishes that have been requested by regular customers and removing menu items that have been less popular. The updated menu will be available starting in the middle of next week at the beginning of Semana Santa.

I had the opportunity to taste some of the new menu items yesterday.

Queso Fundido – three different Queso Fundidos – plain, with shrimps, and with chorizo. They were excellent on both tortilla chips and will tortillas.

Vegan Salad – a combination of sliced carrots, onions, and more on a bed of lettuce with a delicious ginger dressing. The combination of sweet and savory was very good.

Beet Salad – sliced beets placed in a bed of mashed sweet potatoes with feta cheese. Again, the combination of flavors was delicious.

Stuffed avocado – an avocado half stuffed with shrimp, crab, octopus, cucumber and onions. It was truly amazing.

Stuffed Crab – an actual crab shell stuffed with season crab covered with cheese. Another winner in both presentation and flavor.

Fajitas – fajitas of shrimp, chicken, and beef or a combination of all three with your choice of warm flour or corn tortillas presented with red, yellow and green peppers, onions, and more in a heated pan. We were served the combination fajitas (in a larger plan than the normal portion), which were incredible. And if you are a vegetarian, you can choose to have a veggie version as well.

To accompany the tasting, I sampled the Tamarindo water with agave sugar that was a great natural drink.
