Outdoor Activities in Los Cabos

John Anderson, Editor

A lot of visitors and their families come to Los Cabos and choose all-inclusive resorts for their vacation. Staying at the resort means that they miss out on a lot of the fun and interesting things to do in Los Cabos. It is worth pointing out some places to go and things to do outdoors (not on the water) in Los Cabos.

Golf

For many years, Los Cabos was known as a world class fishing destination, holding some of the biggest tournaments in the world. It is now a world class golf destination. With over 20 signature courses designed by some of the best in the world, there is not shortage of place to not only golf but to have great views of the ocean, mountains and deserts of Los Cabos. Unfortunately, about half of these courses are private but if you are staying in the neighborhood or resort, you can usually get access.

UTV Tours

If you want to see the desert, the mountains and even an Indian village – La Calendaria – taking a tour on side-by-side UTVs is the way to do it. Whether you are on the East Cape, in Los Barriles, Todos Santos or along the Pacific Corridor, there are lots of places where you can either take a tour or rent a UTV and experience nature in Los Cabos. Companies like G-Force, Picacho, ATV Cabo Racing, Amigos, Black Sheep Motorsports.

Zip Lining

My daughter was determined to get my wife to go zip lining with her during one trip to visit us. There are two different places along that corridor that offer exciting zip line experiences – Wild Canyon and Costa Azul. These places have multiple zip lines that provide you with an eco-tour at the same time.

Hiking and Mountain Biking

A visit to the Sierra La Laguna Mountains just north of San Jose del Cabo will give you the opportunity to see the mountains, the desert, some lakes and lots of nature. Whether you drive the road, hike up to the mountains and the hot springs or mountain bike the area it is beautiful. There is also a mountain bike part right across from Tienda 17 near the convention center in San Jose del Cabo. You will frequently see pictures that people have taken from the towers at the top of the hill in both San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas – places you can hike or ride your bike up the road (although you may have to push it up some steep parts if you don’t have an electric bike).

Horse Back or Camel Rides

Want to see the beach and desert but you prefer to do it not on a UTV with all the noise and dust? There are several places in Los Cabos – San Jose, the Corridor and the Pacific Side – where you can do that tour on a horse or a camel. Ride your horse through the estuary in San Jose del Cabo and experience all of the incredible birds in this sanctuary. After riding the zip lines in Wild Canyon go for a ride up the arroyo. Or join a trail ride with G-Force Adventures along the Pacific Ocean.

There is an incredible amount to do and see in Los Cabos. So, take a chance and explore the outdoors and experience the beauty of nature or the adrenaline rush of adventures here. Enjoy!
