Our neighborhood recently had a series of break- ins to houses and town homes on one night. The placement of a camera in one of the units help to identify the offender and he was arrested the next day. The person had clearly selected homes that were not occupied at the time or where the owners were out for the evening. As our dog always barks when anyone is near, this would help to deter a potential break- in.

However, we wanted to make sure that other deterrents were in place. We had soon after we closed on the unit added a Ring doorbell with notifications, and two cameras with infrared capability to the courtyard and backyard areas. All have the ability to talk to anyone in the area. After the break-ins, we decided to add solar motion sensor lights as an extra deterrent. As burglars could come over the walls for adjacent units, we added these very bright motion sensor lights on all floors of the townhouse pointed to the potential points of entry. A very bright going on should help to have potential thieves think twice. In addition, to of the lights are in areas where they would illuminate the potential entry point making the camera images captured even better. With notifications enabled, we could then speak to the person or persons through the camera to warn them that security had been contacted and that their entry was being recorded.
