Richard Hastings and Friends at Pizzeria El Potrero

(Last Sunday night February 26th) Richard Hastings and Tony Askins performed at Pizzeria El Potrero.  For the second set, they were joined by Barry Cloyd and Thom Barry.  There are so many talented musicians in Pescadero and Todos Santos that it is a wonderful scene if you enjoy live music.  Richard Hastings has been playing guitar since he was 8 years old and got both a bachelors and Masters degree from the University of Southern California (USC) from the Guitar studio.  He is a master of the guitar and vocals.  Tony Askins in amazing on fiddle and also a great vocalist.  Add to that Thom Berry on harmonica and vocals and Barry Cloyd on guitar and vocals and you can image what the night was like.

This upcoming Sunday, Richard Hastings and Friends will once again be at Pizzeria El Potrero from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.  This time David Raitt (Bonnie’s brother and leader of the Baja Boogie Band) will join Richard and Tony.  Their repertoire ranges from pop to rock to blues to soul to country.  Last Sunday one person asked for Elvis and another for Freddie Fender and they were glad to comply.

But Pizzeria El Potrero is not just for music, they have great food.  With a wood-fired pizza oven, their pizzas are fantastic.  They also have a great selection of pastas.  The garlic buns they give to everyone as a starter are sooo good. I ordered a Caesar Salad to start, which had a creamy Caesar dressing and big slices of fresh parmesan cheese.  My entrée was then the Hot Wings a la Casa – they had a kick and came with celery and carrot slices and ranch dressing.  Beth ordered the Angel hair pasta with garlic and tomato and also loved it.

So get ready to go this Sunday for great food, great service from Omar and his family that owns  and runs the restaurant and of course, incredible music from Richard Hastings and Friends – some of the best musicians in the Baja!

Richard Hastings, David Raitt and Tony Askins will also be at Baja Beans on Sunday at 10:00.  Join him for an experience with music and a street fair with booths with all kinds of jewelry, arts and crafts.  Enjoy the fun!

Here is Richard Hastings and Friends version of The Beatles, “Norwegian Wood”.  Enjoy!
