Located in the Shoppes at Palmilla, Senora Cocina took over the space originally occupied by Chin’s. With indoor and outdoor seating, the owner and Chef Juan Pablo Loza (JP) wanted to create a space where the community to come together to experience authentic Mexican food but also have a good time. Chef JP has been nationally recognized as one of Mexico’s standout culinary talents: winner of Best Mexican Young Chef (National Culinary Competition); named Ambassador of Sustainable Seafood in Mexico; certified Partner of Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch Program and; featured in national and international culinary publications. Señora Cocina Cantina is not just a beautiful venue, it is a chef-led destination grounded in award-recognized culinary excellence.
A meal and Senora Cocina always starts with tortilla chips and a selection of salsas. The menu offers a wide selection of snacks, salads, ceviches, crudos, tacos, tamales, enchiladas, soups and stews as well as large main courses of beef, chicken and fish. I wanted something simple but different and so I ordered tacos with Beef Milanese, which were served on corn tortillas with lettuce, tomato and picked onions. You could also add lime or any of the four salsas that have been provided as a starter. They were delicious.
