Located on Calle Cabo San Lucas (the one-way street from the north into downtown), Shark Ink Sushi is a modern restaurant that provides a fusion of Japanese food and sushi in a pleasant atmosphere. From the parking in front of the restaurant, you enter and see a full bar at the back of the room with high-back stools and a lit display of spirits. I was seated just inside the door and my server Angel provided me with the menu – it is extensive. Offering a full range of appetizers – edamame, gyoza, tostadas, tartar of the day – soups and salads, sashimi and tiradito, rice – Yakimeshi and poke, nigiri, tempuras, traditional Japanese rolls in Cabo, and Shark House Specialty Rolls.

As I love sushi, I decided that I was going to try a wide range of items from the menu. To start, I ordered the pork Gyoza. There were five fried dumplings in a very tasty sauce with a number of seeds and spices on top. Very tasty. My second item to sample was the vegetable tempura. There were several different types of vegetables piled high on the plate with pickled and crispy onions on top. Next, my choice was the garlic flakes sashimi – eight pieces of tuna in a ponzu sauce. lemon zest and chili oil. My final main course item was the Red Dragon Roll with shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber, tuna and more. There were eight pieces with rice on the outside and crispy and pickled onions. The range of flavors was very good. The portion sizes standard for most of the sushi restaurants in Los Cabos. Obviously, this was much too much for one person and so, I had lots of food to take home.

Even with that said, I had to try the tempura ice cream that was served with chocolate, caramel, and strawberry jam enhancements. Delicious.
