WALKING THE MALECON AT THE MARINA CABO SAN LUCAS

John Anderson, Editor

We recently went to Captain Tony’s Bar and Grill for dinner on the marina by Tesoro. After our dinner we decided to explore the malecon and walk down to the other end to view all of the changes that have occurred over the past year. With the creation of A Place at Cabo and the start of the renovation of the Gray Ghost (the abandoned condominium project), the walk along the malecon is very different that it was only a short time ago. A poster shows the changes that have occurred between 1988 and 2025 and it is quite amazing.

While there are still lots of restaurants and shops in the marina area, A Place at Cabo has added a ferris wheel, a carousel and even a trolley that will travel part of the way along the marina. There are also a series of new high-end clothing stores. At each end of the renovations are Amarino Italian Ice Cream shops to stop and enjoy great ice cream. In addition to the well-known restaurants on the marina – Captain Tony’s, Solomon’s Landing. the Tiki Bar, Baja Cantina, Sancho’s – there are now several new restaurants – Domo Sports Bar and Grill, Nashvilla, La Antojeria, as well as close to a dozen others with A Place at Cabo. Walking along the marina, you can hear the live music that is being performed in many of the restaurants.

The walk along the marina was very pleasant and only included one side. At the end closest to the mall, there are also a series of additional restaurants and walking south from Captain Tony’s is a completely additional side of shops and restaurants that we did not visit on this trip.
