Así Y Asado Taqueria on The Corridor

John Anderson, Editor

Looking for one of those hidden gems in Los Cabos. Guy Fieri found it several years ago in a little taqueria on the frontage road across from Costco on the corridor – Asi Y Asado. With brightly colored walls depicting cartoon vegetables and more and a plaque commemorating the visit and feature on the restaurant by Guy Fieri, Asi Y Asado is a special place.

The menus are laminated into the top of the wooden tables. With interesting appetizers, tacos, hamburgers, salads and house specials, there is a lot to choose from. Just after we were seated at a table for two, our friends Bill Girdwood and his mother-in-law Diane arrived and so we moved to a table for four.

This gave us a chance to see more of the actual menu items prepared. We started with some quacamole and chips. The guacamole was great with the addition of tomatoes and onions to the avocados as well as some small slices of jalapeno. Bill ordered the Melted Cheese with Chorizo and I ordered the Garlic Mushrooms as appetizers. Both were plentiful and very good. For lunch, Beth ordered the chicken flautas, which had five on the plate covered with lettuce, shredded carrots and sour cream. The flautas also came with a small bowl of tomato soup. There was a to-go box for some of these. Bill ordered tacos with deep fried chicken and Diane ordered tacos with grilled chicken. Both said that these were their favorites after many visits. In fact, the server just confirmed what they wanted rather than even having them order (including their Pacificos). I ordered a mushroom taco (but forgot to take a picture).
All the lunches were great. The service was very good with several people taking care of us. A great place to stop for lunch after a visit to Costco.
