Cafe de Lolita in San Jose Del Cabo

John Anderson, Editor

Located on Manuel Delgado (the up street) a block and a half from the end of Blvd Mijares in downtown San Jose del Cabo is Cafe de Lolita, a quaint breakfast and lunch place open from 8:00 am to 3:00 Tuesday through Sunday. When you enter the restaurant, there is a coffee bar in a room to the right where you can pick up your to-go orders. The main seating of the restaurant is an interior garden courtyard with about 10 tables protected from the sun by both trees and umbrellas. I walked in to find one our neighbors from Zacatitos and a friend seated at one of the tables. She asked if I had been there before and when I said NO, she said that I would enjoy it.

The menu has a range of breakfast (fruit, pastries, chilaquiles, a number of different specialty egg dishes as well as “eggs as you like”) and lunch (tacos, sandwiches and salad). Most of the items on the menu are specialty items with long descriptions of their preparation. As I was stopping in for a quick lunch, I decided to try the San Quentin, a sandwich bathed in guajillo sauce, with pork shoulder, avocado, cilantro, onion and beans, served on house white bread. it was very good.

This restaurant has been around for several years as it has 247 reviews with an overall 4.5 out of 5 rating. The food and service were very good. I think that it warrants a visit to try out their breakfast dishes.
