Il Forno in San Jose del Cabo

Located in the Art District of San Jose del Cabo next to Mi Casa on Alvaro Obregon just north of Jose Maria Morelos street, Il Forno is the second restaurant of Chef Luigi in Los Cabos – the other Il Forno being near Medano Beach in Cabo San Lucas. With valet parking in the ever-busy Art District, Il Forno offers a bar, lounge and outdoor dining in a comfortable courtyard with trees and beautiful murals on the wall. The menu includes the full range of Italian dishes including pizza made in a large wood-fired pizza oven. We had not been to Il Forno in months and so decided to visit with our guests from Colorado, Mike and Michele.

We started our experience with a bottle of Round Hill Chardonnay from California. For appetizers, Michele selected the Caprese Salad; Mike the Fried Calamari and Beth and I shared the Mediterranean Brushetta. Along with our appetizers came a basket of different types of fresh bread. Everyone was very happy with the starters.

For main courses, there was a wide selection of different dishes. Beth chose the Fettuccine with garlic and shrimp in a pink sauce. Michele selected the Catch of the Day with fresh vegetables. Mike ordered the homemade Lasagna, and I had the Chicken Piccata with fettuccine. Another with our main courses came another basket of fresh bread. For dessert, we all shared the profiteroles – lots of chocolate and cream.

We have a very good meal with excellent service and our car was waiting for us as we left the restaurant.
