By far our favorite taco place in San Jose del Cabo is Lateral Crudo y Asado, which is located on the street behind La Comer. We visit every week to either eat at the restaurant or to take our tacos home. They have an air-conditioned indoor dining room as well as outdoor dining. The server brings a large wooden menu for the food and another for drinks. I no longer need a menu, especially while I am on high-protein diet. The menu includes raw seafood items, starters like guacamole, tostadas, quesadillas, tacos, burritos, and even a box lunch. There are about 20 different types of tacos.

Beth ordered some guacamole to start. It is a very large portion that has tomatoes and onions mixed in and a few slices of jalapeno on top and is server with blue tortilla chips and large tostadas. Some of it always goes home with us. For her main course, Beth chose two of her favorites – chicken tacos with pesto on a flour tortilla and a grilled sirloin taco on a flour tortilla. Both are topped with pickled or regular onions. There is also a stand with three different salsas and lime to add to the flavor of the tacos. I ordered a chicken pesto taco and an al pastor taco – both without tortillas (my diet). One of my other favorites is the sashimi tostado, but unfortunately the tuna has too much fat in it for my diet.

The tacos are great. The service is always fast and good. We look forward to regular visits.
